The rare and irritatingly quick Archelionterix is a frightening beast, with the head of an ostrich and the body of a slightly emaciated lion. Its most fearsome characteristic is its breath, which gives victims the same feeling as having eaten a dozen garlic cloves for lunch.

It looks like it needs a hug. I like the black line bits in it, makes it look old school. -- vos quod milia multa basiorum legistis male me marem putatis pedicabo ego vos et irrumabo [link] Come chat at the Complaints Tavern! I added contrast after scanning it in, and that gave it a sort-of woodcut-y feel.
Good luck with the contest, but hurry! I think there are just a couple of days left.  Yes I definitely used that pic as a sketch reference. Have edited the description to note that.
